Avencia Consulting on behalf of a Bespoke & Specialty Insurer based in the City, who have a newly created position for an Underwriting Analyst to join.
The role
This position is a collaborative role providing support for data quality, analysis and root cause analysis. The Data Quality Analyst will ensure timely, accurate, and complete reporting of data, co-ordinate with the underwriting function to enhance data, complete required data updates and provide the required information for preventative measures to enhance the overall quality of the data.
The analyst will also be responsible for supporting, tracking, and collecting information related to our Service level reporting requirements.
Key accountabilities
- Assist with the design and implementation of Data Quality technical and process solutions
- Business As Usual management of Data Quality issues, Data Quality solutions and Data Management processes
- Identification and documentation of Data Quality issues
- Design, ownership and management of the Data Quality Issues Log
- Development of Data Quality dashboards and reports for various stakeholders
- Oversight and maintenance of remediation activities associated with Data Quality issues
- Support for Root Cause Analysis
- Support the delivery of services to assist in the mitigation of Data Quality Risk
- Improve the data at source for the submission process
- Accountable for monitoring that any errors are corrected or questions are answered by the appropriate internal groups
- Partner with Technical Operations and IT to ensure accuracy of data collection and identify areas of improvement in data management
- Understand and take ownership of our business processes, and recommend improvements in data management, error identification, quality control, or process automation.
- Proactively identify better ways of working and opportunities for automation
- Ensure changes resulting from any data quality issues are appropriately documented, governed and controlled
- Ensure best practice and process documents are created to support training across the team
- Proactively complete analysis to make business improvement recommendations for your area
- Responsible for Developing, managing, and administering service management reporting for the Underwriting function.
- Management of our third party supplier, facilitating monthly, quarterly and annual reviews along with management of the relationship.
- Monitoring SLA performance for compliance with organizational needs and requirements.
- Facilitating all reporting and communication between the Underwriting function and its stakeholders across the business.
Skills & experience
- Strong knowledge of insurance processes and KPIs e.g. Pricing, Reserving and Underwriting practices
- Experience in Insurance Accounting, or familiarity with London Market specialty business lines for Insurance coverages and data.
- A strong passion for Data Quality /Integrity and setting up processes to reflect this
- A practical understanding of Underwriting systems.
- Basic competency in MS Office applications: Word and Adobe Standard required.
- Advanced Outlook and Excel skills.
- Demonstrated ability to master new concepts quickly and take initiative with own personal development.
- Ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders both internal and externally across the Company.
- Must be able to self-lead and work effectively both independently and with teams.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver and manage accurate thoughtful detail-oriented work within tight deadlines.
