We are looking for an Underwriting Team Leader to support the Underwriting & Operations Manager and manage the performance of a team of 4 Underwriters. The ideal candidate will handle complex referrals, champion compliance, and provide oversight and technical support. This role is pivotal in enhancing business knowledge and personal development within the team.
Day to day of the role:- Manage and support a team of 4 Underwriters, ensuring high performance and adherence to internal and external regulations.
- Handle complex underwriting referrals and provide technical support to colleagues.
- Act as the main escalation point for the team, guiding them to resolve issues effectively.
- Oversee team workloads, ensuring efficient allocation and maintenance of high standards.
- Conduct monthly performance meetings, regular one-to-one sessions, and annual appraisals.
- Uphold data integrity, ensuring all information entered into company platforms is accurate.
- Prepare and present MI reports to internal stakeholders, contributing to business strategy and decision-making.
- Proven experience in underwriting and team management.
- Holding or working towards one of the Chartered Insurance Institute Qualifications, Cert CII, Dip CII or ACII would be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex referrals.
