Holosphere is a spatial computing company based in Birmingham. Over the past 8 years we have successfully delivered a wide range of products and experiences which blur the boundaries between the real and virtual worlds. From a guided VR meditation narrated by Sir David Attenborough to virtual projection rooms to safely simulate hazardous environments, Augmented Reality applications for launching new products to digitally augmented dance performances with the world-class Birmingham Royal Ballet. The demand for real-time content and spatial computing is growing with the possibilities available in this rapidly evolving space and we’re looking to find talented and driven new individuals to join us and help shape the future of what’s possible.
About the role
Holosphere work on a wide range of exciting spatial computing projects, delivering ground-breaking apps for our clients and continually exploring the art of the possible through internal R&D projects. In this rapidly evolving sector no two projects are the same, so the ability to come up with creative yet technically sound solutions to daily design challenges is key to success in this role. You will work with both the engineering and art teams to assist with the successful design and development of a range of applications and real-time experiences. Epic’s Unreal Engine is at the heart of what we do at Holosphere so we’re looking for strong demonstrable skills and multi-years’ experience with UE.
Whilst working with us you might
- Be part of the team working on a shared Mixed Reality experience running on a network of the latest XR devices.
- Develop application logic to drive UMG widgets from touchscreen interactions in a mobile AR application.
- Help to design and develop a novel locomotion system for a VR application.
- Use VR tracking and computer vision motion capture to bring a live dance performance into Unreal Engine in real-time.
- Get to explore the capabilities of the latest devices and software advances in the world of spatial computing and generative AI with our passionate team of creative technologists.
The ideal person
- Knows their way around Unreal Engine and is comfortable with its ecosystem and nuances.
- Understands where and how to configure the project for various needs such as tuning rendering settings, enabling plugins or deploying to different platforms like PC, VR, Android or iOS.
- Has daily experience working with larger development teams. Able to collaborate using version control systems such as Perforce and/or Git.
- Is not just an interactive application developer, but also a creative technologist with 5+ years working primarily in Unreal Engine for one of the creative industries.
- Has excellent and demonstrable skills in Unreal Engine Blueprinting.
- Has a sound knowledge of and at least some demonstrable experience programming with c++ for Unreal Engine.
- Understands and can demonstrate good application design skills and relevant design patterns.
- Is a problem solver and can adapt to new challenges with existing knowledge and capable research skills.
- Is comfortable presenting their ideas to the team and able to communicate with customers.
- Is passionate and excited about the capabilities of real-time technologies, spatial computing and the future applications that will be possible in this field.
- Has experience with one or more of the following: nDisplay, Meta XR development, ARKit development, ARCore development.

Salary: £29,425.66-£50,000.00 per year
