Peterborough is a unique combination of a New Town and historic Cathedral City, and one of the fastest growing places in the UK. The enviable parkway and cycleway networks mean you can get around the city in next to no time. Located on the A1 and the East Coast Main Line, we are in a highly accessible location that makes us an attractive location for new businesses and homes.

As a result, we are currently experiencing considerable growth and investment, including a new University, a new Station Quarter, and new cultural facilities in the city centre, as well as new urban extensions on the edge of the city, and many other developments of all scales.

As a planning officer with at least 3 years of broad experience in development delivery and a planning or related degree, you will be experienced in dealing with householder and minor planning applications.

You will have analytical and problem-solving qualities and will be expected to work on complex minor or small-scale major planning applications and support our Principal planners on major projects such as city centre developments or sustainable urban extensions to the city. The role also involves mentoring less experienced officers, driving up the quality of design and participating in service improvement projects.

The planning team is recognised within the Council as being vital to the continued growth of the city and you will play a part in that.
