Job description


The Urology Cancer Specialist Nurse is a role integral for providing appropriate specialist advice, support and education to patients. The Urology Cancer Specialist Nurse will play a pivotal role within the Urology Nursing and Medical Team providing specialist information, advice and support for those diagnosed with a urological cancer, their families/carers and Health Care Professionals both internal and external to the Trust, which will promote a seamless service within the multi-professional framework.
The postholder will implement programs of holistic care at all stages of the patient’s pathway including pre-operative support and advice, holistic needs assessments, follow-up and survivorship. As an integral member of the CNS team, the postholder will be able to influence patient care through development of specialist skills, knowledge and experience.
To work autonomously, but complementary to, the clinical team in managing the care of patients with a Urology Cancer. The post-holder works with the Cancer Service and supports with the implementation of Urology service improvements in order to achieve cancer plan targets.
The postholder will also be required to deliver support for the day-to-day activity of the Urology CNS team. They will act as a source of expertise and knowledge for the dissemination of advice to both patients and healthcare professionals within the trust. This post will be cross site working.
