The role
Fugro are recruiting ROV Pilot Technicians and ROV Supervisors to join our world-leading Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) team based at our Remote Operations Centre in Aberdeen, UK. As a Pilot/Supervisor working in the USV team, you will predominately be responsible for piloting our electric Remotely Operated Vehicles (eROV) installed on the USV’s within the European and African region.
You will also get the opportunity to travel to project sites for maintaining eROV systems, ensuring that components are operational to conduct investigation and inspections in accordance with the project deliverables and applicable regulations.
You will work in a range of markets including offshore wind, pipeline and platform inspection. The role will combine time predominantly at our Remote Operations Centre in Aberdeen but also on-site supporting project mobilisations, equipment installation, equipment calibrations and equipment maintenance. Therefore, you will get the opportunity to experience both the onshore stability of the Remote Operations Centre environment but also work hands on with the remote equipment underpinning the transition from conventional subsea inspection to remote and uncrewed survey.
Who we’re looking for:
- Understand and comply with Fugro standard operating procedures and project-specific procedures. As a supervisor support the development and revision of these procedures.
- Setup, testing, piloting, maintenance and operation of the eROV system.
- Fault finding and fault reporting of the eROV remote control and navigation systems.
- Highlight non-conformances to the attention of the Supervisor.
- Maintain and coordinate comprehensive dive records.
- As a Supervisor take the senior management lead on shift, train and mentor Pilot technicians and other junior eROV personnel, ensure effective safety management and communications via toolbox talks and shift handover briefings and interface with our clients as lead eROV person on shift.

Who we’re looking for:
Essential
- Previous experience of working as an ROV Pilot Technician or ROV Supervisor.
- Comprehensive understanding of operations with Inspection class ROVs.
- Nationally recognised technical or trade qualification and / or appropriate level national vocational qualification in one or more of the following subjects: electrical, electronics, computing, mechanics.
- Ability to work shift patterns up to 4 weeks in length.
Desirable
- Based within commutable distance of the Remote Operations Centre, Aberdeen
- Previous remote or autonomous equipment experience.
