Overview of the role

Are you an experienced ER Advisor who can bring a range of skills and experience to complement the existing team?

We are looking for someone who has a background of growing their career within an internal employee relations function and used to providing support on more complex cases prior to escalation through to working closely within a team to ensure consistency in approaches and advice given.

As an ER Specialist, you’ll be part of a small but essential team of 3, working closely with our Pharmacy Managers, Area Managers and Regional Operations Managers. Building strong relationships is key to this role; You will be coaching and supporting our managers on a range of policies and seeing cases through start to finish.  You will also conduct case reviews to ensure that you are providing appropriate advice, building on learnings and feedback for future recommendations. Working closely with the ER Manager, you’ll also support ACAS cases and tribunals.

Whilst you’ll be part of a helpdesk with average of 100-200 calls, this is both inbound and outbound; Enabling you to proactively reach out to our managers to understand more about their areas, support with the creation of ER training, running sessions with the field teams to build their ER knowledge and confidence.

Main Responsibility

  • End to end ownership of high risk and complex ER casework across all aspects of ER such as, short term and long term absence, investigations, disciplinary, grievances, performance and appeals
  • Coach and provide guidance to line managers in all aspects of ER Casework
  • Effective management of complex ER matters such as ACAS Early Conciliation discussions and Employment Tribunal activity
  • Maintaining and updating our case management system quickly and accurately for auditing, case management, analysis and insight
  • Accountability for liaising with management to produce ER documentation accurately and timely
  • Identify and analyse trends through effective reporting to provide management information to help inform decision making
  • Contribution to the continual development of policies and procedures
  • Assist the ER & Policy Manager with HR projects and initiatives in support of key objectives and business plans
  • Attendance in a HR capacity at ER meetings

Key knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • Experience of handling a high volume of complex ER casework
  • Previous experience of dealing with matters such as Acas Early Conciliation discussions, Employment Tribunals, and high risk/complex ER matters
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and associated best practices
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with confidence to liaise with management at all levels of the business; Experience of coaching and advising line managers
  • Strong experience of working in partnership with leaders and colleagues to drive results
  • A professional approach with the ability to build strong effective relationships
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage workloads in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
  • Previous experience of HR policy implementation
