Job description

Overview of the role

Accountable for the delivery and on-going maintenance of IT Service, Second- & Third-line support & Server Infrastructure + associated systems to meet the needs of the business

The role is hybrid working with 3 days in the office, and 2 days working from home.

Main Responsibility

  • To lead and develop the Service Delivery, Desktop, and Infrastructure teams
  • Accountable for the provision and on-going maintenance of infrastructure and associated applications
  • Act as the escalation point, ensures a quality expert response and resolution for complex issues is provided, whilst prioritising and optimising the high-volume of concurrent work to ensure an effective service is delivered within SLA’s.
  • Accountable for the prioritisation and resolution of root cause issues across the respective areas, and to where possible reduce the reoccurrence of problems across technology in-use
  • Accountable for the creation and delivery of ITIL service operations processes to ensure services are delivered effectively and efficiently
  • Ensures continuous improvements are sought to deliver efficiency and effectiveness in line with industry best practice.
  • Ensures the team can implement and maintain a variety of system management tools
  • Maintain operational relationships with key internal stakeholders and stakeholder groups to enhance and maximise the provision of solutions, advice and guidance.
  • Manage key operational relationships with relevant external suppliers to optimise cost, quality and risk and ensure appropriate and timely response to delivery issues.
  • Ensure the supporting teams have sufficient training and expertise to support and manage infrastructure issues from a 1st, 2nd & 3rd line 
  • Commercially astute with the procurement of hardware/systems using industry knowledge to ensure costs provided are suitable for requirements
  • Work closely with the Security team to ensure close alignment on cyber security
  • Accountable for software licence compliance, ensure the IT team can monitor licence compliance and remains in budget

Key knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • Decision making skills and strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships across IT as well as People understanding and leadership skills to guide, develop and motivate other team member
  • Analytical and problem solving skills that yields understanding and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Strong personal responsibility supported by a positive, resilient approach to dealing with the demands of a customer facing operational role.
  • Good knowledge of the application of Service Management processes, in particular ITIL
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills so can explain complex technical issues which can be understood

Problem solving & change:

  • Delivering appropriate/compliant services across multiple business areas in a transforming environment
  • Remote management of teams across multiple locations
  • Complex internal infrastructure and business trading pattern demands, e.g. 24*7, seasonal, weather
  • Resilient and pragmatic in their approach in order to influence all key stakeholders.
  • Develops commercial recommendations and proposals within a broader strategy and regulated industry.
