Role Overview
Assist Head of Transport Compliance with implementation and continuous enforcement of Van Compliance strategy, with the aim of minimising the health and safety, regulatory, insurance and financial risk within the light commercial fleet.
Responsibilities
Granular and continuous auditing of fleet compliance status by means of mock DVSA inspections at base locations and in the live operational environment
Immobilisation of non-compliant assets, escalating instances of non-roadworthy vehicles and poor behaviours/hygiene standards to line management with comprehensive supporting evidence
Mentoring the non-vocational driver cohort to exhibit the key disciplines associated with safe motoring and excellent vehicle husbandry in an influential and impactful manner, therefore eliminating a repeat of poor behaviours
Encouraging ‘buy in’ to the compliance strategy in a professional manner to ensure a positive outcome for all parties involved
Collation and trend analysis of audit information to highlight areas of risk within the operation with respect to motoring, highlighting opportunities for improvement to key stakeholders; namely the operational management and driver training team
Year-on-year monitoring of vehicle/plant condition, correlating known damage to escalation reports and highlighting instances of new damage and neglect
Escalation and management of DVSA/Police interactions
Lead the established RTA intervention strategy, ensuring that corrective action is prescribed for all blameworthy motoring events
Accident/incident/RTA investigation, establishing a root cause by means of thorough questioning and consideration of all evidence available
Maintenance of system hygiene (namely Webfleet, Vision, DriveTech and O-licence portal)
Supporting Head of Transport Compliance and Transport Manager with fulfilment of O-licence obligations, transport related projects and other ad hoc duties
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a transport management role
National/combined CPC holder
IOSH qualified
Basic mechanical knowledge
IT literate with experience using vehicle tracking, tachograph analysis and licence checking software
Excellent organisational and communication skills, with a proactive approach
Ability to manage workload to ensure that unforeseen events can be reacted to swiftly
Ability to accept and manage challenge in a professional manner
Car licence (6 points maximum)
Confident investigator
Training experience
Knowledge of plant equipment
Desirable:
HGV licence, valid DCPC card and digicard.
Working knowledge of EU/domestic drivers’ hours rules and WTD regulations.
