Working Days and Hours: Monday to Friday, hours to be confirmed, likely to be 9am to 5pm
- Work a shift system incorporating unsociable hours every 4th week
- Overtime is available in addition to enhanced payment for winter maintenance call-out duties
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a range of vehicles, from cars to HGVs and plant, including forklift trucks
- Undertake inspections, repairs, servicing, and maintenance of vehicles and plant
- Diagnose faults and perform effective repairs
- Carry out electrical repairs on vehicles
- Attend and assist in the recovery of breakdowns across the borough
- Use welding, heating, abrasive, and cutting tools as required
- Operate lifting equipment
- Maintain care of tools and equipment
- Participate in training as advised by Line Manager
- Take responsibility for own and others’ health and safety
- Communicate and interact positively with other service users and employees at all levels within the Council
- Work independently without supervision
- Perform any other duties allocated that are appropriate to the grade of the post
Role Profile - Vehicle Workshire Fitter Criteria:
Appropriate City & Guilds Motor Vehicle Maintenance qualifications or equivalent (including Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle maintenance) or willingness to work towards
Full current driving license
Experience with light welding and vehicle/equipment recovery
Proficient in driving a range of vehicle types
Skilled in maintaining and repairing a range of vehicles
Effective oral and written communication skills
