Job description

Blenheim Veterinary Centre
Veterinary Surgeon
Up to £65,000 depending on experience, relocation support up to £3,000, plus benefits

At Blenheim Veterinary Centre, we pride ourselves on delivering comprehensive veterinary care, encompassing a balanced caseload across medicine, surgery, and imaging. This role presents an opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to shape their practice by establishing a focus in a particular area of interest, allowing for personalised caseload development. We are committed to supporting your pursuit of further qualifications, aligning with your professional aspirations.

Find your future

To complement our nearly full team of skilled vets, we require a dedicated professional to join us every Thursday and Friday, from 08:30 to 18:30, allowing an hour for lunch and dedicated administrative time. Additionally, a rotational share of Saturday mornings from 08:30 to 13:00 is part of the role.

While we do not have out-of-hours obligations, there may be occasional overnight inpatient care shared among our veterinary team. Flexibility in scheduling is a consideration, and we are open to discussing your preferred days and hours to accommodate individual needs.

Find a place to excel

Blenheim Veterinary Centre has been established in Ashbourne, Derbyshire since July 2002 and joined IVC in December 2016.
We are a close knit team who enjoy our good days together and lean together in the harder times - we like a good giggle and also support each other really well. We have a large, experienced team of Veterinary Nurses and we are also a VN training practice. Our warm, friendly reception team would be able to offer you all sorts of support and knowledge should you choose to join us.
We are very proud to announce that one of our Nurses has achieved a distinction in the ISFM's Certificate of Feline Nursing. We have a large amount of clients with cats and we work a lot with the local Derby Cats Protection, so if you have a keen interest in working in a Practice who regularly sees a lot of feline patients your wish is one we are able to grant! Our caseload is varied though and support Just For Dogs and also care for exotics and wildlife as well. We see an above average amount of exotic pets due to having a Certificate holder who is supported by a highly experienced exotics nurse.
We are really keen to support your expertise or learning goals and incorporate them into services for the practice, so talk to us about any Certificates you are aiming for.
We have wonderful, loyal clients, a large number of whom have been with us since the day we opened. We pride ourselves on building excellent relationships with them by being friendly and helpful and offering excellent continuity of care.
Derbyshire is really a beautiful place and there is plenty of activities to get involved with locally in your spare time, especially if you enjoy the great outdoors! We are 45 minutes from East Midlands airport so travelling is easy.

Meet like-minded professionals

We have a hugely experienced CD with an encyclopedic knowledge of general practice, offers acupuncture and is an OV. Our Senior Vet holds a Medicine Cert and is our GDP advisor and mentors the team. We have two other experienced Vets (one doing an exotics Cert the other an OV) and two younger team members who now are three and two years post graduating. (Total Vets 5.5 FTE), 9 Qualified Nurses and two SVNs, 6 Receptionists. We are looking for someone special to fit in with this team and enjoy it's diversity. We support the Cats Protection, Just For Dogs rehoming centre, hedgehog rescue and wildlife.
