We are looking for an enthusiastic vet to join our team in Winnersh. We are an established practice, and we pride ourselves on our great reputation and loyal client base.
Being part of The Vet Group allows us to benefit from their support but at the same time be able to have autonomy, clinical freedom and decisions on how and what services we provide.
Weekends are 1:4 Saturdays only. No OOH.
The Team and Interests
We have a friendly team of three vets and six nurses. Two of our vets have been with us since graduating (classes of 2019 and 2021), and are both very happy to chat through how supportive the team in Winnersh have been. We have vets with both a surgical and medical bias, and an ophthalmology certificate holder so we see a varied case load. Therefore, this role would suit a vet with either a medical or surgical bias - or somewhere in between!
Orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries are often undertaken in house, as we have a vet with an interest in this as well as a good working relationship with visiting peripatetic surgeons.
We are also part of the RWAF-recommended rabbit friendly vet list, and strive to provide the best care for our rabbit and small mammal patients, as well as working closely with a local hedgehog rescue centre (plenty of opportunities to develop your skills with prickly patients!) To further this, one of our nurses will soon be starting their advanced nursing program in small mammals and wildlife.
Equipment
The practice is well-equipped, including dental xray, ultrasound, multi-parameter monitoring and in-house Idexx haematology and biochemistry. Additionally, we have recently invested in brand new ophthalmology equipment (slit lamp, tonometer and surgical loupes) which enables us to work up many of our eye cases in-house, undertake more complex ophthalmology surgeries and take second-opinion cases.
Personal development
We truly encourage personal development, and are happy to support a particular interest through CPD or study for certificates, and invest in equipment to support this for the right individual.
