"Students first – raising standards and transforming lives”
Vice Principal
Outwood Grange Academy
Required for Easter or September 2024
Leadership pay range: L18-L22 (£71,729 - £79,112)
We are an Outstanding rated, 11-18 academy based in the cathedral city of Wakefield, near Leeds from where the successful Outwood Grange Family was born; a Trust that has supported 41 schools across phases in the North of England.
We have nurtured a school community that is welcoming and friendly, where students and staff can make excellent progress together, with a focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased attainment, achievement and social and emotional development.
We believe our success speaks for itself as we are well above the national average for the number of students achieving at a Grade 5 or above in English and maths GCSEs. We are also proud to have been awarded Gold Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.
We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.
Applications are welcomed from leaders seeking their first Vice Principal role or from experienced Vice Principals looking for a new challenge and/or support to accelerate to your first headship. You must have high expectations for all, be an outstanding teacher and be committed to supporting every student to achieve their absolute potential.
This role involves supporting the Principal to lead an exceptionally talented and committed team of staff, having a relentless focus on the quality of teaching and learning, ensuring every lesson delivers the highest standard of education and inspiring learners to develop a passion for knowledge and a love of learning. You will need the skills to motivate and enthuse, coupled with the ability to model and coach at every level.
Outwood Grange Family of Schools is nationally recognised as one of the highest performing multi-academy trusts in the country and one of the founding trusts of the National Institute of Teaching.
Outwood Grange Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS form in line with Section 115 of the Police Act 1997.
If you are interested in this role, we invite you to contact our HR team (hr@grange.outwood.com) if you have any questions, and you would be warmly encouraged to visit, by arrangement, to see lessons and witness the rapid improvement that has already occurred.
