The purpose of the role is to skipper the Broads Authority’s solar powered electric Trip Boat on the river Bure at Hoveton, providing a commentary to visitors. In addition, there is a requirement to provide lunchtime cover at the Hoveton visitor information centre, giving a flexible and comprehensive information service.
The successful candidate will need good knowledge of the Broads and its wildlife. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential to communicate verbally with a wide range of people in a warm and friendly manner. Good boat handling skills/experience (RYA Powerboat level 2 desirable) are required to operate the Ra (training will be given) and IT skills to use a computer and computerised tills.
June to September working hours will be 24 hours per week over 3 days, including alternate weekends.
The working days in April, May and October will be alternate weekends with the additions of Easter and October half term school holidays.
