Job Title: Vocational Learning Coach

Salary: MC Teaching Support Scale 4 - £18,873 - £20,875 (actual salary) per annum, subject to a progression criteria

Contract: MC Teaching Support, Part-Time, Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only over 40 weeks

Pension: Local Government Pension Scheme

About the College

  • Middlesbrough College is the largest General Further Education College in the Tees Valley and has been situated in Middlehaven, Middlesbrough, since 2008. It has developed from the initial main site to the vibrant campus that is now in place with our Campus Heart, dedicated Sixth Form, STEM Centre, Higher Education Centre, and further development for our apprentices in progress.

  • The College offers free membership to its gym for all staff as well as discounted rates in the Hair and Beauty salons, and staff sports sessions such as five aside football, Pilates, and badminton. About the role

The role of Vocational Learning Coach will be the Specialist Additional Learning Support advisor in Adult Learning, having an input into planning and preparing for lessons and assisting individuals or a group of learners during their attendance at College.

The successful candidate will hold:

Qualifications

  • An appropriate Level 2 qualification or equivalent, in supporting students with learning difficulties/care or the commitment to complete within an agreed timescale
  • Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • A commitment to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.
  • Risk Assessment Qualification – Desirable.
  • First Aid Qualification – Desirable.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of health and safety issues.
  • Knowledge of the process of assessment of risk.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and Independently.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with staff and students at all levels.

Experience

  • Knowledge of/experience in working with students with learning difficulties and disabilities
  • Demonstrate and evidence Vocational experience in relevant subject area.
