Job description

The new service is seeking a Voice and Influence Practitioner to join the team of wellbeing Practitioners who will be supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of children and families in Denbighshire. The Voice and Influence Practitioner will be in place to support Children and their families have opportunities to have their voices heard and contribute to decision making around the service design and delivery moving forward.

Part Time hours: 18.5 hours in 2024 and 2025, reducing to 14.6 hours in 2027 and 2028

At Barnardo's, Voice and Influence is the collective term we use to describe the different ways we work with, listen to, record, respond to and act on the voices and lived experiences of children and young people. This includes consultation, participation and co-production work we undertake.

While this role is within a specific team, service or locality (as specified), it will undertake its responsibilities in line with our UK Voice and Influence Strategic Plan and receive as and when practice advice and support from the UK Voice and Influence Team.

Job Purpose:
  • To support and enable children and young people, and where appropriate their families, to have a Voice and Influence in decision-making.
  • To increase and embed the Voice and Influence of children and young people, and where appropriate their families, in the delivery and management of the service.

Key Responsibilities:

For Service Users
Under guidance and instruction:
  • Support, devise and facilitate a range of opportunities for children, young people, and where appropriate their families, to have a Voice and Influence in decision-making.
  • Support children, young people, and where appropriate their families, to form, express and share their views, in their way, on their terms.
  • Ensure children, young people, and where appropriate their families, are able to communicate their views to people who can make difference.
  • Ensure children, young people, and where appropriate their families, are fed back to, so they can see the difference they have influenced.
  • Work co-operatively with children's services, health agencies and other community based services, to provide the effective Voice and Influence opportunities for children young people, and where appropriate their families.
  • Contribute to regional, national and UK-wide Voice and Influence work.
  • Contribute to service development.
  • To work in an non-discriminatory and inclusive manner and to ensure that all service users are able to have their voice heard and contribute to service design and delivery.
  • Apply safeguarding and child protection procedures.
For Resources
  • Be responsible for equipment/resources linked to service delivery.
  • Be responsible for case note recording, contributing to report writing and producing and keeping management information.
For Health and Safety
  • To promote, monitor and maintain health safety and security in the working environment.

Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding currently to 29 February 2028 and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement.
