We are seeking Volunteers to support in our Age UK Kent Rivers Charity Shop, in the heart of Gillingham. You will be assisting in promoting our profile and range of services while raising vital funds to help support older people in our local communities.
Job Type: Volunteer, Flexible - weekday hours will be offered to suit your availability
Location: Chatham or Gillingham
Your duties:
- Assisting customers with their purchases
- Helping to sort and prepare stock for sale
- Planning displays that highlights goods
- Keeping displays and sales areas tidy
- Taking payments and handling cash transactions
- Moving and bagging bags of donated items and stock
- You may be asked to take part in a rota to help with manning the shop floor
This is not an exhaustive list of the duties that this role may entail. However, any further tasks requested of you will be regarded as reasonable.

Upon being successfully shortlisted, you will be required to follow the next steps:
- Complete an application form
- Provide us with 2 references
- Complete a DBS check (submitted and paid for by Age UK Kent Rivers) - this process is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
This application process can take several week, depending on how quickly the documents and references are returned, and the stages of which the DBS is processed. We aim to process your application as soon as possible to help reduce any delays.
