Community Panel Members represent the local community when a young person has offended and been given a referral order from Court.
Community Panel Members engage with the young person, their family and the victim to put together a contract of work to reduce the risk or re-offending. They focus on restorative justice to make amends for their actions and to tackle the cause of their behaviour.
Community Panel Members review the young persons progress and can return them to court if they fail to comply.
Full training is given as directed by the Youth Justice Board and ongoing support from York Youth Justice Service.
