Job description

BTHFT is expected to see numbers of volunteers rise significantly, after the relaunch of Voluntary Services at the Trust. The post holder will support the Head of Volunteering in developing meaningful and impactful volunteer roles across the trust, ensuring staff feel supported in the volunteer processes. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all volunteers are managed on a day to day basis, making judgements which require analysis on a variety of volunteer and administrative problems. The post holder will support volunteers on their volunteering journey, meeting with them across the various wards and departments, ensuring they feel valued in their role. The post holder will be responsible for the recruitment of volunteers, whilst coordinating and facilitating the mandatory volunteer induction training ensuring the effective and safe management and support of volunteers across the trust. The post holder will Support the development of new meaningful and impactful volunteer roles across the Trust. Recruit and deploy volunteers to roles across the Trust, ensuring volunteers are appropriately trained and supported for the role they are undertaking in line with Trust volunteer procedures. To coordinate and facilitate the mandatory volunteer induction and training. Support staff across the trust to manage volunteers, ensuring volunteers receive regular 1:1 supervision. To engage with existing and new volunteers to ensure they feel valued in their role and have an excellent volunteering experience. To support the rewards and recognition of volunteers Main duties To support the Head of Volunteering in the recruitment and mandatory induction of volunteers. To plan and facilitate an accessible mandatory volunteer induction training, whilst supporting volunteers to complete training online. To ensure volunteers receive a local service induction. To use the Volunteer Management Database Assemble, as required for the management of the volunteer journey. To work with staff to identify opportunities where volunteers could enhance the delivery of Trust services, meeting the needs of our patients, carers and their families. Ensure volunteer roles are safe and well managed, including risk assessments. To ensure volunteers receive regular 1:1 support, ensuring their identified development needs are met in line with their personal development plan and volunteer pathways. Including supporting volunteers to access the Volunteer to Career pathway. To support volunteers health and wellbeing within policy. To ensure any required monitoring of volunteer activity is completed. To be the point of contact for volunteers to raise any concerns or issues. To escalate to the Head of Volunteering any concerns, risks, issues and change in volunteer role or support required. To be responsible for the volunteer exit process. To promote a positive volunteering culture with staff, raising the profile of volunteering within the Trust. To develop and coordinate volunteering opportunities across a range of Trust services. Attend the Volunteer Service teams meetings and networks. Support the collection of data and evidence to identify and celebrate the impact of volunteering within Trust Services. To manage sensitive and confidential information providing and receiving complex and sensitive information. To approve volunteer expenses. To ensure where resources are required for a volunteer activity that these are in place. To coordinate the recruitment of new volunteer roles. To ensure all recruitment is communicated internally and externally, with local community organisations. To support the networking of volunteers, and work with the Head of Volunteering to plan various events. To liaise with the Head of Volunteering in promoting Voluntary Services and the benefits of volunteering internally and externally. To provide support to the Charities within the Foundation Trust, ensuring that all their volunteers have met the required criteria, in line with Foundation Trust Policy To carry out such other tasks as are required to meet the aims and objectives of the organisations Volunteering Strategy and Trust services, which are commensurate with the grade of the post Other duties as specified by the Head of Volunteering. This is not an exhaustive list of duties, it is also subject to change in light of service developments and in consultation with the post holder and his/her manager
