Headed by a driven and diverse Board of Trustees, Bolton Adult Autism Support (BAAS) is currently undergoing exciting new developments, and we are now looking to expand our small team to include a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator for our autism specific adult focused Befriending Service.
Job Description
Volunteer Management
Recruit and induct volunteers, to include identification of volunteer recruitment streams and development of induction procedures in line with company policy;
Complete DBS checks and take up references for volunteers;
Develop and deliver training materials to volunteers to prepare them for their role, taking into account current legislation and best practice guidelines;
Supervise and undertake regular reviews with volunteers;
Create plans for each befriending relationship, ensuring volunteers have the knowledge to deliver individualised support to autistic adults;
Monitor and collate volunteer hours and expenses in line with service reporting requirements.
Service Beneficiary Engagement
Work with autistic adults and their parent/carers (where applicable) to develop a supportive package that meets individual needs;
Undertake regular reviews with service beneficiaries, including measuring the service’s impact by completion of wellbeing assessments;
Collaborate with colleagues to identify ways of onboarding new service beneficiaries into the befriending service, and where appropriate BAAS’s other service delivery programs;
Meet with new service beneficiaries to ascertain their needs and inform them of ways BAAS can offer support;
Assist with regular one to one telephone contact with existing and new service beneficiaries to encourage them to make the most of BAAS’s offer;
Assist with incoming telephone and email enquiries to the service.
Office
Ensure maintenance and growth of BAAS’s social media presence, promoting all of BAAS’s service delivery programs;
Development of befriending service promotional resources, including press releases and radio interviews where appropriate;
A willingness to follow organisational policies and procedures;
Attend training as set out by the service manager, as well as identify own training needs where applicable;
Positively liaise with other staff, contributing towards further development of BAAS’s service delivery programs.
Community
Represent BAAS positively and professionally at community events, as required;
Assist community fundraising efforts, as required;
Deliver training materials to external organisations, as required.

Essential
A demonstrable understanding of the issues which affect families impacted by autism;
An ability to listen to others in a non-judgemental way;
To be confident in communicating with those who have or may have social communication difficulties;
An ability to work positively with volunteers, providing support, constructive feedback and development opportunities for their role;
Proven excellent administration and organisational skills;
A willingness to undertake relevant training;
A willingness to follow relevant company procedures;
A flexible approach to your work.
Desirable
A lived experience of autism, and the issues which affect families impacted by autism;
Experience of adopting your communication approach to the needs of each individual;
Experience of engagement with people who use and benefit from services;
Experience of developing training materials and delivering to groups;
A basic knowledge of adult safeguarding and data protection procedures;
Experience of working within Google Workspace.
