Service Care Solutions have a fantasist opportunity for a Waste Collection Driver to work for a local authority based in Barnsley.
Purpose of the role:
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team working throughout the borough delivering council services and responding to community priorities ensuring that the household Waste Collection service is completed within the daily task, supervise waste crews and manage their day to day operational function's (via paper records or electronic hand held device's) including all Health & Safety relating to the daily tasks.
Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake operational duties which will involve a wide range of physically and mentally demanding tasks in all weathers.


• Ensure the completion of all daily tasks while ensuring the safety of employees, colleagues, and members of the public including children; you will be responsible for the safe collection of bins along your route.


• Understand the operation of mechanical machinery to facilitate emptying of refuse containers.


• Be responsible for the careful day to day use, cleanliness, maintenance, security of vehicles/plant, machinery, and equipment provided to undertake the daily task.


• Work to agreed schedules and where necessary respond to new priorities as required or directed by line manager to ensure deadlines are met.

Requirements:

• To hold a valid UK driving licence to ‘Category C1' standard.


• Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).


• To hold or a willingness to undertake Manual Handling


• To hold or a willingness to undertake Needle Stick


• To hold or a willingness to undertake IOSH Working Safely.


• Experience of working in a waste management environment and carrying out respective duties.


• Experience of working as a Team leader, Foreman or equivalent in a team environment.

Working hours:
4 days out of 5/ 7am - 5:30pm
