If you answered ‘yes’ to these questions, then we want to hear from you! Southampton City Council is looking for Waste Operations Coordinators to join its growing service.

The Waste Operations Coordinator will provide a leadership role for a group of waste and recycling collection crews. The candidate will demonstrate behaviours that will influence, motivate, and help staff deliver high quality services to residents.

You will demonstrate a record of accomplishment of delivering public facing services in a high-pressure environment.

The right candidate will be able to demonstrate strong leadership behaviours and skills, demonstrate experience of managing customer enquiries and complaints and have excellent organisation skills.

There is a mix of daily tasks management required form the coordinator including planning, communicating, and monitoring own and other workloads. Manage staff attendance, and ensure staff deliver services professionally and safely, putting customers at the heart of all we do.

As a Waste Operations Coordinator, you will be the key link between senior management, collection crews and residents.  You will ensure there are regular meetings and workshops with your team, to listen, understand, solve problems, and provide feedback to ensure staff feel valued.

Additional information:

  • Please note the salary quoted is based on full time hours (37 hours per week)
  • The working hours for this role are 40.5 hours per week 
  • This is a permanent position.   
  • Please note that appointments are usually made at the bottom of the salary scale.
  • The starting salary for this role, based on 40.5 hours per week, is £38,129
