Insight Executive Group are delighted to working with a leading NHS Trust in North London who are looking to recruit a Waste & Sustainability Manager on a full time permanent basis.
The role is Band 7 inner London weighting which pays up to £52,489.
The Waste & Sustainability Manager is an opportunity at the forefront of the NHS mission to make the UK healthcare system 'netzero’, and more environmentally and socially responsible. You will contribute to and play a leading role in the trust’s overall green plan delivery in respect of both carbon reduction and linked projects relating to other sustainability goals and be an agent of transformation and innovation, to embed changes to behaviours and organisational culture and to help implement and normalise sustainability within everything the trust does.
The successful Waste and Sustainability Manager will be responsible for:
- waste, transportation and mobility, buildings, energy, behaviour change, climate resilience, and biodiversity
- chairing and coordinating the Estates & Facilities sustainability working groups, covering key topics including Waste, Travel, Energy, Food, Buildings and Green Spaces, maintaining action logs, project plans, data reporting, and any other project documentation.
- managing projects and delivering initiatives within large organisations and will take a lead role in programme delivery for sustainability-linked transformation work at the trust, with a focus on driving forwards projects that support the delivery of the organisational 'greenplan’
- using sound project management principles to deliver discrete projects, and good general organisational techniques to manage business-as-usual workload priorities.
The successful Waste and Sustainability Manager will be able to demonstrate:
- educated to post graduate qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject (ideally in waste, sustainability, or environmental management)
- membership of (or working towards) relevant Chartered Institute e.g., CIWM, IEMA or ICRS
- Project management qualification, e.g., PRINCE2
- thorough and comprehensive understanding of legislation, guidance and best practice relating to all areas of environmental management and sustainability.
- In depth knowledge of energy, environmental management and sustainability systems e.g., ISO 14001, GHG Protocol, ISO 9001, HTM 07-01, etc
