Focused Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Web Fitter / Technician to join our clients well known manufacturing business based out of their site in Newport.
Overview of the role:
Provide a timely and effective service to production on all webs and conveyors ensuring safety, quality and hygiene standards are met. Additional duties will include site service checks throughout the factory, keeping records up to date and general offline maintenance
Hours of work:
This role is working Monday - Friday on a days & afternoons rotating shift pattern.
- Day shift - Monday - Thursday 06:00am - 15:00pm. Fridays - 06:00am - 12:00pm
- Afternoon shift - Monday - Thursday 13:00pm - 22:00pm. Fridays - 12:00pm - 18:00pm
Duties of the role will include:
- Carry out planned web / conveyor repair / renewal
- Attend and repair webbing breakdowns on all lines
- Carry out any remedial work and plan week end activities
- Obtain prices for replacement stock and repairs
- Carry out monthly web stock count
- Carry out tracking system and roller repairs
- Carry out engineering service checks/repairs and report findings and fill out log of activities
- Be proactive in preventing webbing / conveyor failures and improving overall equipment performance by generating and implementing ideas and modifications
- Provide advice and guidance to Operators on the utilisation/operation of webbing
- Identify performance issues and implement appropriate and pragmatic solutions through the use of problem solving skills, tools and techniques, liaising with the Area Engineering Manager as appropriate
Qualifications and experienced required:
- Level 2 NVQ Performing Engineering Operations (or willingness to undertake)
- Good standard of education (numeracy and literacy) either GCSE English & Maths (Grade A-C)/equivalent qualifications/equivalent experience
- Food Hygiene Level 2 (or willingness to undertake)
- Experience of working in a food manufacturing environment
- Experience as a Process Operator or experience in webbing/repairs/renewals/vulcanising (desirable)
- Experience of general factory maintenance (desirable)
- Experience using computers and associated software including Microsoft word, excel
