Key responsibilities

Working closely with staff members within the EI Teams to:

  • 1. Maintain and develop new functionality on the EI’s Learning from Incidents PWA and the Technical and Innovation and Publications websites.
  • 2. Manage uploads, development, and repurposing of content across the websites.
  • 3. Provide troubleshooting assistance and support for colleagues and users working with the websites.
  • 4. Monitor SEO performance and ensure accessibility and web best practices and standards are met.
  • 5. Ensure EI online services are designed to the highest specifications, both digitally and visually.
  • 6. Support the promotion of Technical and Innovation resources on social media.

Nature and Scope

At the EI we have ambitious plans for the growth of our digital channels both in the UK and internationally. A key focus for your role will be to oversee the performance and manage digital resources related to the Technical and Innovation programme – a multi-million 3 research programme developing good practice resources for the energy sector. This includes the Technical and Innovation webpages, the Publications webpages, and Toolbox - the EI’s Learning from Incidents PWA. This is an opportunity to work with one of the most significant developments for mobile app design and a technology shift in the last few years.

Join us as a Website Administrator and be responsible for managing, optimizing, and refining content for unparalleled user experiences across 10 languages.

This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a passion for crafting clear, concise, and engaging content. You'll leverage your expertise in CMS systems (like Squiz Matrix) and image editing software (like Photoshop) to upload, edit, and optimize text, images, and videos specifically. You'll be responsible for converting PDF content into engaging and accessible HTML formats. Your organisational skills will be invaluable in ensuring consistency and accuracy across all 10 languages supported by the application.

Beyond content management, you'll contribute to the overall quality and accessibility of the websites. This involves adhering to established standards and guidelines, providing troubleshooting support to users and colleagues, and collaborating with stakeholders on project specifications and content delivery. Additionally, you'll manage and upload content to the Toolbox's social media platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and audience engagement. You will also support the promotion of other Technical and Innovation resources via social media.

Your work will involve engaging with internal and external stakeholders and you will take responsibility for the improvement, testing and delivery of effective, user-focused, digital content and tools. This will imply working closely with the Digital Transformation team and using our CMS (Squiz Matrix) and our search engine (Funnelback) to help to produce and edit content with the focus on the PWA.

You will actively participate in the development of the EI’s website and other online resources which will involve working closely with staff across the organisation as well as external suppliers.

You will be expected to meet your individual key performance indicators and maintain standards and objectives for the team in line with organisational values. You will utilise your expertise to effectively support and contribute to the implementation and development of the EI work programme.You will work in accordance with agreed policies, procedures and practice inclusive of Health and Safety at Work requirements and Equal Opportunities. You will actively participate in appraisals, team meetings, and meeting your self-development needs.You will undertake any other duties necessary to this post as delegated by the Head of Digital Transformation.

Key skills required

  • Content Management System (CMS) expertise (ideally Squiz Matrix)
  • Strong organizational skills: Ability to effectively organize and manage large volumes of files, including images, videos, documents, and other digital assets.
  • Knowledge of image editing software like Adobe Photoshop or similar tools to resize, crop, and enhance images for web use. Ability to create basic graphics and visual assets.
  • Basic video editing skills – Ability to crop and compress videos.
  • Understanding of social media platforms – X and LinkedIn
  • Proficient understanding of HTML5, CSS and media queries
  • Understanding of asset management systems and data formats (e.g. metadata, XML, JSON)
  • Experience with SEO best practices for optimizing website content and social media posts.
  • Knowledge of analytics tools for tracking website traffic and social media engagement.
  • Understanding of accessibility guidelines for ensuring website content is inclusive for all users
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.

Desirable

  • Ability to programme within JavaScript and experience with front-end frameworks
  • Understanding of application programming interfaces (APIs)
  • Experience using MailChimp or other mailing platforms
  • Understanding of Progressive Web Applications
  • Good knowledge of Adobe CC and Adobe development environments
  • Understanding of search-based applications
  • A keen interest in staying up to date with the latest digital news, developments and trends
