We have partnered with an award-winning charity based in Brixton – London, committed to transforming education by training and supporting schools and teachers to challenge systemic inequity. Their mission is to create affirmative environments for young people, foster systemic change in education, and redefine policies through innovative practices. We are seeking emerging creatives to contribute to the transformation of their brand output.

 

Overview:

We are looking for a Website Designer / Graphic Designer to bring our updated creative to life for an engaging new website. While the website needs to appeal to funders and program participants, the scope is to avoid a traditional charity website model and instead infuse it with the vibrant energy of zines. The candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the illustrations, imagery, and overall design create a compelling and unexpected user experience.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the creative team to design a visually compelling and non-traditional website that reflects the energy of zines.
  • Conceptualise and implement unique approaches to the use of illustrations, imagery, and typography across the site to convey a clear and engaging message.
  • Work closely with the illustration team to ensure a seamless integration of visual elements.
  • Design 6-8 unique pages for the website, maintaining consistency with the charity’s vibrant, modern brand personality.
  • Ensuring the website’s functionality aligns with the envisioned design.
  • Adhere to provided brand guidelines and contribute to refining them if necessary.

 

Expected Start Date: ASAP / beginning of March

Skills and Experience Required

Personal Specification

  • Proven experience as a Website Designer / Graphic Designer with a portfolio showcasing a distinctive and activist design style.
  • Familiarity with non-traditional design approaches and a creative mindset to bring an unexpected flair to the website.
  • Knowledge of how to mark and translate design requirements for development.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with the creative team.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently within tight timelines.
