At Antony you will be leading a small team of Welcome and Service Assistants, to deliver a warm and friendly welcome for our visitors.
As a part of the public face of our property, you’ll provide a warm, friendly welcome, give information about the site, answer questions and make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable visit.
You will also be responsible for leading membership recruitment at the property, line-managing the Welcome and Service Assistants, and setting up the welcome offer each day.
Antony is a lived in family home, and is therefore only open between April and October. Your operating hours will typically be 10.30 -5.30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between April and October, as well as Sundays between June and August, bank holidays and occasionally other days.
You will be working with a small team of full and part-time staff at Antony.

A house of silver grey stone, Antony is a beguiling mixture of the formal and informal. It's believed to be one of the finest surviving Queen Anne buildings in the West Country.
View the outstanding collection of portraits, including works by Sir Joshua Reynolds and a famous painting of Charles I during his trial. There are also fine examples of period furniture, textiles and tapestries.
Breathe in the sweeping views as you explore the landscape garden, which includes a formal garden with topiary, modern sculptures and a historic collection of daylilies.
What you'll be doingYou’ll have overall responsibility for the welcome team, their safety and working practices, working closely with the Senior Programming and Partnerships Officer to develop the site offer.
You will have responsibility for the setting up, and the day to day operation of the welcome area, and ensure the delivery of the highest standards of service and visitor experience, using sound judgement and decision making, in line with National Trust guidelines and policies.
You’ll be using your creativity and communication skills both to inspire and motivate your staff and volunteers, and to help provide the friendly face of the National Trust to thousands of visitors.
You will engage with all our visitors to inspire support through membership, and help visitors to enjoy their stay.
Who we're looking for- Good practical experience in visitor business,in tourist, heritage or relevant visitor services environment
- Naturally curious about people, and with a passion to and experience of delivering the highest standards of customer service
- Excellent organisational skills
- Confident leader, adaptable and responsive under pressure
- Ability to initiate service recovery without senior support
- Good IT skills (all MS Office)
