Overview of the role:
To support the delivery of a telephone advice service and community based face to face advice sessions for disabled people, their families and carers within Barnsley.
Main duties & responsibilities:
- To provide telephone advice (general help with casework)
- To provide follow-up work to a level agreed with line-manager
- To signpost and/or make effective referrals to other support as available
- To deliver advice sessions (general help with casework - Welfare Benefits) in community venues
- To ensure that client records are accurate, maintained effectively and that confidentiality is maintained at all times
- To liaise with representatives of relevant area councils
- Develop, maintain and promote appropriate resources to support individuals to self-advocate
- Support the work of the Contract Manager in order to ensure robust outcomes monitoring for the service
- Assist the Contract Manager in raising awareness about the service
- Liaise with internal staff in order to add value to the service provision and contribute to team meetings
- Identify own training and development needs
- Maintain good working relationships with external services
