An exciting opportunity has become available for a Workforce Planning Insight Specialist to join our Workforce Planning Team.

Our Workforce Planning Insight Specialist provide Workforce Planning analysis, by utilising a wide range of workforce data insights to create, maintain and design workforce forecasts, scenario models and resource allocation models that will inform policy, priorities and decision making at a strategic and tactical level

In this role your main responsibilities will be:

  • To lead and influence Workforce Planning analysis and data initiatives, at a corporate level, that specifically enhance and improve the delivery of strategic Workforce Planning across the organisation.
  • Accountable for analysis of the forces strategic business plans, interpreting the potential impact on the workforce; comparing options, and advising on risks and opportunities.
  • Lead in the development of new and existing Workforce Planning technologies to ensure Workforce Planning processes are enhanced across the whole organisation.
  • Lead the design and creation of Resource allocation models across the organisation, identifying opportunities for resourcing improvement/options for change, modelling different scenarios and analysing impacts of changes and making recommendations.
  • When building forecasts, ensure that internal and external (regional and national) trends are considered and monitored in order to benchmark appropriately.
  • To build effective relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of internal stakeholders, negotiating and influencing key stakeholders to ensure clarity, scope, and delivery requirements, providing specialist advice and knowledge to define and understand workforce forecasting needs that meet the organisations requirements.
  • To collate, process and analyse workforce data, both numerical and qualitative, using a variety of statistical techniques and computer databases
  • Interpret highly complex data and information, e.g. financial, HR, and service needs, and ensure this can be understood by varied audiences across the organisation.
  • To be responsible for turning workforce data into clear findings and working with leads, provide recommendations that allows the business to make informed strategic decisions.
  • Lead, chair and facilitate workshops and meetings, preparing and delivering presentations and other communication and engagement activity as required.
  • To continually monitor and maintain workforce forecasts keeping oversight of the plans to ensure the force is remaining on track with its strategic Workforce Planning.
  • Making recommendations on emerging workforce issues where there may be a number of courses of action, with an ability to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise.
  • To liaise and build effective relationships with Regional and National Workforce Planning analytical/technology groups to ensure that new technologies are identified, developed, and made available for the Workforce Planning department.
  • Provide a consultancy service on workforce forecasts and planning analysis practices and procedures, providing strategic insight, and act as a source of professional and technical expertise to the Organisation in relation to risks and opportunities that are identified and act as a catalyst for change.

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • Experience of working in an analytical role preferably within a complex organisation.
  • Experience of applying analytical thinking and the ability to use your own initiative
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills beyond formal lines of authority
  • The ability and experience to establish your credibility and maintain the trust and confidence of senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical and intellectual problem-solving abilities, including interpreting and drawing reasoned and robust conclusions from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Excellent IT skills including extensive experience using all common Microsoft packages
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - including good verbal and written communication, presentation skills and the ability to lead and facilitate meetings and workshops with a range of stakeholders;
  • Experience of working in an advisory and or consultancy capacity, with the ability to demonstrate professional credibility with colleagues and stakeholders

Additional Information:

We have two opportunities, one parental leave cover for 12 months period and one fixed term contract for 12 months.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.

Blended Working/ Hybrid Working

Avon and Somerset Police encourage flexible working where operationally possible.
This role has been identified as a blended role.
The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
