The Role
We are seeking an experienced working foreman skilled in managing diverse construction projects. The ideal candidate is expected to have advanced from a background in carpentry and possess a keen interest in historical buildings. This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring that projects are completed within budget, on schedule, and adhere to our safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in and oversee on-site construction activities, with a particular emphasis on refurbishing historic buildings.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour teams effectively.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Develop and oversee project timelines, updating plans as needed.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to maintain clear communication and successful collaboration.
- Perform regular site inspections and host progress meetings to address any emerging issues or delays.
- Prepare and submit detailed project reports and documentation.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- A demonstrated history in managing residential, educational, and commercial refurbishment projects, particularly on historic buildings.
- At least five years of experience in a combined role of hands-on construction and site management.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, particularly in the context of historic buildings.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management software.
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Full UK driving licence.
