SF Recruitment are working with a leading events company in Gloucestershire to recruit for a Workshop manager.
The purpose of this role is to lead and develop a team of enthusiastic workshop technicians to prepare, return to standard, load, and unload the full range of our hire equipment. The workload of the workshop follows the tradeshow, exhibition and sporting event calendar with some very busy times prepping jobs followed by quieter times that require diligent return to standard of the hire equipment and maintenance of excellent warehouse management standards.
The role is responsible for all functions and activities within the workshop. Working within the wider Operations team the role is also responsible for managing the process interface between the wider team and the workshop. The wider Operations team consists of Project Managers, dedicated On-Site Technicians and Technical Project Executives.
The ideal candidate will have proven workshop management skills preferably from a live event technology background. The individual will need to demonstrate a flexible approach to work with a real 'can do' attitude, exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills and excellent prioritisation skills, in international live events we get one chance to get it right!
Amongst other attributes the successful candidate will be a visible, proactive leader, they will demonstrate strong management skills and have a track record of successful leadership of teams working under pressure to tight deadlines.
The role will primarily be office based at our Tewkesbury HQ Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:30, it is a requirement that the individual will be able to extend the hours during busy times including weekend work when required. Candidates must be somewhat flexible to travel overnight to site and work outside of normal hours when needed.
Key Activities
- Overall daily management of the workshop team.
- Manage the warehouse budget, be conscious of costs and report monthly to the Op's Manager
- Constantly review, create improved efficient work practices.
- Facilitate, encourage, empower staff for own self constant improvement, development, and innovation.
- Ensure stock levels are correct - Reporting weekly on late equipment returns.
- Sub-hire is fully accounted for upon receipt & return.
- Accurate tracking of repair of damaged equipment/casing.
- Develop efficient processes for equipment preparation within the workshop.
- Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
- MOS meeting - Weekly report on workshop operation & costs
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Scheduling of jobs staff schedule management
- Team, expenses, holidays, hours management
- Allocation of jobs
- Oversight of all projects through warehouse process, preparation of equipment, loading and despatch of equipment, return of equipment and storage.
- Ownership of the team despatching the correct equipment to site via the ERP system.
- Ensuring a tidy working environment within the warehouse
- Occasionally go onsite to manage temporary show stores.
