Yardperson/Driver (Hgv)

Dennison Commercials Ltd is the sole Volvo Truck & Bus dealer and the leading provider of heavy commercial vehicles in Northern Ireland.

Hours & Location

The position will be based at our site in Ballyclare and the core hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm per day.  Flexibility to work on Saturday mornings and or weekday evenings will be required from time to time.

About The Role

Key Duties & Responsibilities

·         Completion of road tests as required for HGV’s

·         Controlling yard vehicle movements – general upkeep of the yard ensuring bays are filled and exit roads are kept clear

·         Collection and Delivery of HGV’s as required to support dedicated Driver team

·         Moving vehicles to battery charging points as and when required

·         Prepping of trailers for MOT, hooking up units to test trailers etc

·         General housekeeping of Ballyclare depot premises – keeping external yard areas clean and tidy

·         General housekeeping and cleaning of workshop - removing debris, packaging redundant parts from the workshop, emptying bins and disposing of waste products appropriately (including hazardous waste), managing skips and recycling etc

Please note there will be a strong element of manual handling within this role due to the nature of our business.

Required Criteria

• HGV licence, including classes C and E
• Up to date CPC training with valid Driver Qualification Card
• Possession of a valid digital tachograph card
• Previous experience of yard maintenance and general housekeeping in a commercial workplace environment
• Possess an understanding of, and, be familiar with health and safety regulations associated with cleaning and maintenance activities
• Possess high standards of cleanliness and have great attention to detail
• Take pride in your work and be reliable, punctual and trustworthy
• Be accountable and responsible for completion of role duties and use initiative where needed
• Able to communicate effectively in a professional manner – polite and approachable

Desired Criteria

• Possession of a bus/coach licence would be highly desirable
