We are currently seeking a Year 6 Teacher to join a dedicated team at a vibrant and diverse primary school located in the heart of Peckham. As a Year 6 Teacher, you will be instrumental in planning and delivering high-quality lessons that engage and challenge pupils, assessing their progress, and contributing to the wider life of the academy and the Harris Federation.
Day-to-day of the role:
• Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons to Year 6 pupils, ensuring that all students are challenged and supported.
• Assess and report on the progress and attainment of pupils.
• Contribute to the development of the curriculum and participate in extracurricular activities.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and participate in continuous professional development.
• Support the ethos of respect, responsibility, and resilience within the school community.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• An undergraduate degree.
• Successful experience of teaching the primary curriculum, preferably in Year 6.
• Strong subject knowledge of core National Curriculum subjects.
• Good understanding of teaching and learning theory, particularly in relation to primary age children’s progress.
• Knowledge of child development and progression and its impact on planning.
• Effective strategies for managing behaviour in line with the school’s policy.
• Understanding of equal opportunity issues and their addressal in schools.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• A passion for teaching and a commitment to improving outcomes for all pupils.
