As a Youth Justice Service Social Worker, you'll play a pivotal role in steering young individuals away from the path of offending. Working in tandem with families, schools, and key agencies, you'll tackle the root causes of their actions, ensuring a brighter tomorrow. Your presence will be felt not just in the lives of these youth, but in the community as a whole.

The role

A Youth Justice Service Social Worker will have experience of working with complex young people and their families demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of all relevant legislation and a background in youth offending, social work, teaching, education welfare, health or policing.

The experience you will bring

  • To be registered with Social Work England as a registered Social Worker
  • Experience of working with complex children / young people or young adults in a criminal justice/care setting and an understanding of the issues that affect young people and children.
  • Excellent communication skills and IT literate and ensure high quality recording on YOS case management system.
  • An ability to work on your own initiative and manage competing demands when under pressure and awareness of own strengths and area for development and a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Ability to challenge young people, their attitudes and behaviours, in an appropriate and positive manner and a commitment to working in partnership with young people, their parents/carers and others involved in the young person's life.
  • Adept at working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and across organisational boundaries.

The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wider operational area including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings and to be able to do so in an emergency. Driving licence and car or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.
