Job description

Youth Worker - Challenging Behaviours

  • Location: Norwich
  • Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Youth Worker with a specialisation in working with young people exhibiting challenging behaviours. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the root causes of such behaviours and a proven track record in implementing effective interventions and strategies to support these individuals.

Day to day of the role:

  • Develop and implement tailored behaviour support plans for young people, in partnership with their families and other professionals.
  • Provide one-on-one support and guidance using positive behaviour management strategies and evidence-based interventions.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to support.
  • Facilitate group sessions and workshops aimed at developing social and emotional skills and behaviour management.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure timely completion of necessary documentation.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of young people, supporting their active community participation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in social work, psychology, counselling, youth work, education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with young people with challenging behaviours and an understanding of the underlying causes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to maintain positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning new skills and approaches.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours as needed.
