Experienced Youth Worker - Supported Transition Officer
£29,552 per annum
Full-time, 36 hours per week
Our client, Carers Trust Hillingdon is the leading charity delivering high-quality advice and support to unpaid family carers in the London Borough of Hillingdon. They are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Youth Worker to join their supportive, high-performing and friendly team as a Supported Transition Officer.
About the Role
The pandemic created significant new challenges for many unpaid carers and young adult carers (16 – 25 years) were particularly affected socially, emotionally and academically. Thanks to a three-year continuation grant from the Henry Smith Foundation, they are looking for a new project officer to support these young people to make a smoother transition into adulthood.
Their well-established Supported Transition programme offers intensive individual support and training to help young adult carers (16 years +) make a smoother transition into adulthood and to prevent them from becoming NEET. The service currently supports their personal development and provides a range of training and other opportunities to aid access to volunteering, further education and employment opportunities, as well as a diverse social activity programme, peer and emotional support.
About You
Carer's Trust are seeking a skilled, adaptable and self-motivated individual with a proven track record in youth work and the ability to effectively engage with young people and develop positive relationships. Their ideal candidate will have:
Experience of working with vulnerable and troubled young people and their familiesAble to build trusting relationships and engage young people on a one-to-one and group basisAble to assess levels of need and create personal development plans with young peopleStrong organisational and interpersonal skillsStrong communication skills, both verbally and in writingKnowledge of Microsoft Office applications and their use in data collection
The post-holder will be required to attend a regular evening youth club plus occasional weekend work for which time off in lieu will be given. The post is based in Uxbridge with borough-wide travel. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required for this post.
