Job description

Hours: 21.6 hours per week (to include some evenings and occasional weekends).

About the role

Morley College London is looking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Photography and Video production to lead on its growing Level 3 Extended Diploma in Photography and Digital Skills course, as well as to contribute to the HND Photography course at Chelsea Centre for the Creative Industries.

You will have excellent skills in photography and video, with expertise in image manipulation and video editing, using Adobe programmes. You will hold an undergraduate degree in Photography, or a related subject, and would have experience within the FE/HE sectors.

Ideally you will hold a teaching qualification, or demonstrate a willingness to work towards this.

About Morley College

Established in 1889, Morley College London is one of the country's oldest and largest specialist providers for adult education. Across three centres – Waterloo, North Kensington and Chelsea, the college offers programmes at FE and HE levels, as well as short unaccredited courses; with a vision to grow the 16-19 provision, as well as the Higher Education one.

The Photography department is based at Chelsea Centre for the Creative Industries, where students are placed at the heart of a unique educational experience building their character and industry skills towards their future studies, or a career within the creative industries.

As well as joining a creative, innovative leading London College focused on social justice and providing excellent teaching and learning opportunities for all, there are plenty of other rewards for working at Morley College London:

  • Generous annual leave allowance (30 days, more for teaching staff) plus Bank Holidays
  • Christmas closure period
  • Excellent pension scheme with generous employer contributions
  • Access to an employee retail savings platform, offering significant discounts at most major retailers
  • 100% discount on the cost of undertaking a Morley course of your choice
  • Season ticket loans and cycle to work scheme
  • On site cafeterias
  • A busy events calendar, offering you the chance to attend regular Morley creative exhibitions, student awards, dances, concerts and more
  • A lovely work environment, surrounded by creative arts, music and friendly, helpful colleagues.

The Photography department offers a student centre approach, with active learning and meaningful engagement in their educational process. It provides students not only with the technical skills required to succeed, but also with the collaborative working, problem solving, and critical thinking skills needed to optimise their engagement as a creative individual in the 21st Century.
