Civil/Structural Engineer Internship
We’re looking for an ambitious and intellectually curious student to join our team on an 8-week Summer Internship to learn, grow and contribute to our goal of a better tomorrow.
This will be based within our Civil Engineering department.
This role will provide you with an insight into the specification and development of a variety of services for the UK Civil/Structural Engineering Discipline. You will get the opportunity to use your understanding of engineering principles relating to structural steelwork analysis as well as reinforced concrete and foundation design. You will be contributing to ensuring the quality and timely delivery of C/S deliverables.
You’ll be:
Reporting directly to an assigned lead Engineer or Project Manager in an office or on a project construction work site. Duties provide meaningful work experience and business knowledge.
- Assisting with engineering drawings, draft details and making revisions in CAD
- Performing design calculations
- Contributing to appropriate studies, analyses and recommended actions
- Assisting with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports
- Co-ordinating with project managers to make modifications and corrections to project specific documents
- Keen safety awareness
- Assisting engineers with other ad hoc and/or project related civil and structural engineering work
- Deliver civil engineering services that meet Worley's, its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget and to the correct quality level
- Communicating effectively with the civil engineering team and project stakeholders, including the customer
- Identifying issues and problems, developing appropriate solutions, and asking for assistance if required.
You’ll have:
- You will be in your penultimate year of study of a bachelor’s or master’s level degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
- Our Internship Programmes are intended for those with minimal to no experience in Engineering and for those are still studying at university. If you have more than 2+ years paid in-industry experience in the field of Engineering and/or have already graduated and will not be completing a masters on an accredited course we would recommend applying for our other opportunities
- If you feel you do not have any relevant experiences or meet the full criteria, we encourage you to still apply. When reviewing applications, we look at all experiences, whether that’s in-industry (paid work experience), at university (e.g. your course, society membership, events etc) or even in personal study (any experiences you have outside of university or paid employment)
- You will be looking to achieve registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) in the future.
