We’re excited to share that we are recruiting an AAT Trainee to join our Accounting & Business Solutions team in our Dundee office. We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual who is eager to kickstart their career in accountancy. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire and a willingness to study towards the AAT qualification level 3.

During your training contract, you will be:

  • Given the opportunity early on to work on a variety of clients, ranging from owner-managed businesses to large international groups and not-for-profit organisations.
  • Developing your business advisory skills through our HL Training Academy
  • Covering a variety of tasks, enabling you to grow personally as well as professionally
  • Working in a busy, high-performing team, constantly learning from those around you as part of your on-the-job training
  • Given study and exam leave to ensure you pass your exams
  • Supported throughout your training contract, both financially and by people who have successfully completed the AAT and ACCA qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Book-keeping on a monthly/quarterly basis using Xero, Quickbooks and Sage
  • Carry out monthly control account reconciliations
  • Learn to prepare and process month-end adjustments including depreciation, accruals and prepayments
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Preparation of monthly/quarterly management accounts for a variety of clients in a range of sectors. Liaising with clients where appropriate.
  • Establish a professional and confident working relationship with clients, dealing with their queries, and escalating these as appropriate, in order to enhance the Firm’s reputation and business opportunities

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Educated to HNC/D level, ready to embark on AAT level 3
  • Good numerical and data analysis skills
  • Computer literate with experience in Excel, Word and ideally accounting production software such as Xero.
  • Eager to provide outstanding customer service to our clients
