As part of our vision to transform housing services the Housing Needs & Homelessness Service has recently been redesigned. Our ambition is to create a service which is understood, fair, accessible and residents are active participants in their journey towards finding a settled home, underpinned by the new NEC technology being implemented.
We have a number of roles and are seeking dynamic and collaborative individuals to join our team to provide the best possible service to support tackling homelessness in Croydon. About the role:
- To provide an effective rent service that maximises income collection and recovery whilst providing a customer focussed service for clients in emergency and temporary accommodation.
- To proactively manage a caseload of accounts to prevent arrears and recover housing debts and other associated sub-accounts, across emergency and temporary accommodation properties
- Provide advice on income recovery, breaches of tenancy or Lease conditions
- To negotiate with clients to find solutions to reduce their levels of debt and maximise their income, advising on housing benefit and/or other welfare benefits, such as Universal Credit, tax credits.
- To refer clients to support agencies, for debt counselling and welfare benefit advice and services appropriate to their needs
About you
- Have experience of working in a customer-driven service that works for the best customer outcome and strives for continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of the services and support available for homeless clients or those in housing need.
- Knowledge of the welfare benefits system and its application.
- Knowledge of the techniques and processes relating to the successful collection of rent, service charges and arrears.
- Ability to be proactive and creative in preventing rent arrears
