Accounts Assistant

An Accounts Assistant is needed in the Accounting & Finance department of a prominent retail company, based in Preston. The role involves assisting in financial reporting, maintaining records, and providing accounting support to the team.

Description

• Chasing outstanding payments by telephone, email and letter.
• Evaluate credit risk for new and existing customers and ensure credit limits are within guidelines, set by the Financial Controller.
• Updating the debtor's ledger.
• Posting and allocation of customer payments
• Process supplier invoices.
• Ensuring that statements and invoices are sent out within agreed time frames to reduce late payments.
• Chasing outstanding payments
• Maintaining accounting records and invoices

Profile

A successful Accounts Assistant should have:

• A degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant field would be beneficial
• AAT level 2 or equivalent
• Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant
• Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software
• Strong numerical and analytic skills
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills
