Position: Housing Assistant
Location: EH22 Area - Office based
Duration: 6 Months - possible extension
Salary: £14.47 per hour
Working Hours: Monday-Thursday: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Friday: 9:00 am - 3:30 pm (with lunch break)
Our client is a forward-thinking organisation committed to providing high-quality housing services to the community. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Housing Assistant to join our client's team based in the EH22 area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the main contact point and coordinator for telephony contact within the Housing Services Team.
- Provide housing options advice to a diverse range of customers, including:
- Interviewing and assessing customers during the acceptance of housing applications to the Common Housing Register.
- Explaining client's Housing Allocation policy.
- Clarifying other housing options and tenures available using client's web-based housing options guide.
- Explaining the client's online house exchange service.
- Make referrals to external services and other departments.
- Accurately and promptly process housing application forms.
- Assess housing applicants' needs, including points calculation and list categorization, following the client's Housing Allocation Policy.
- Adhoc admin duties
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- 2 Highers, including English, or SVQ equivalent combined with necessary experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office or similar spreadsheet and word processing applications.
