Identified Position - Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate effective, coordinated and culturally capable services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women (and their families and carers) accessing maternity services through the Midwifery Group Practice at the Townsville University Hospital.
The successful candidate will coordinate Health Worker services within the Midwifery Group Practice, with operational responsibility for the Advanced Health Worker team working across Midwifery Group Practice and Women's & Children's clinics. The successful applicant will be responsible for their own work and the work of other Health Workers.
The Senior Health Worker will exercise autonomy, initiative and judgement in the use of resources under their control and in day-to-day resolution of issues and problems, including but not limited to:
- Development and use of resources.
- Prioritisation of work.
- Safety measures and procedures.
- Monitoring occupational health and safety regulations and mentoring of other Health Workers.
- Preparation of reports and statistics.
Generous remuneration package value up to $97,236 p.a. comprising:
- Salary range of $3078.20 to $3266.60 p.f. (HW5)
- 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements:
- Proof of qualification (Diploma in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care) and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
- Possession of class C drivers' licence.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
