About the Role:
As an Advanced Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in improving the lives of individuals in their own homes. Your responsibilities include:
• Assistingindividuals with complex needs/mental health issues in line with Care Plans, evaluating their skills and requirements.
• Providing positive behaviour support to those expressing frustration through behaviours that challenge, includingplanning and implementing effective strategies.
• Offering practical assistance with daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal care, and paperwork.
• Extending emotional support through open communication, actively listening, and addressing concerns.
• Tailoring communication to individual needs, including variations in sounds, tones, and body language.
• Upholding unconditional positive regard, respecting privacy, and always preserving dignity.
• Serving as role models and companions, discovering shared interests and fostering connections.
• Supporting and monitoring healthcare needs, including medication administration where necessary.
• Providing verbal and written reports, managing petty cashand maintainingaccurate records
• Accompanying individuals to appointments and meetings with other agencies and healthcare professionals.
• Collaborating with fellow Support Workers, family members, social workers, mental health nurses and healthcare professionals.
• Safeguarding the confidentiality of personal information and disclosing it only to authorised individuals.
• Promoting a team approach, offering support to colleagues when needed and assisting in staff induction.
Qualifications:
• Having an NVQ Level 2 in Social Care is highly desirable for this role.

• Your background in Care/Support roles, along with a demonstrated ability to work with individuals grappling with mental health issues and behaviours that challenge, will be invaluable.
• Your proficiency in implementing strategies for those expressing frustration through behavioursis imperative, showcasing your commitment to making a positive impact.
• In addition to your experience, we value qualities such as clear and sensitive communication, excellent listening skills, and an empathetic approach.
• Building trust with individuals and their families is a core aspect of this role, as is competency in practical and domestic tasks.
• Your organisational skills, efficiency, adaptability, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team are highly regarded.
• Your patience, emotional resilience, non-judgmental attitude, and strong communication skills, tailored to diverse audiences, are assets we truly value.
• Lastly, if you bring budget management and money-handling skills to the table, you'll fit right into our team.
This position is advertised on a temporary to permanent basis where by you will complete a 12-week period with the support of AJ Recruitment, resulting in a permanent position and transferring to our client at the end of the 12 weeks whereby you will be working to a set roster, however there is often the opportunity to work overtime.
