Job description

Role overview: A leading global multidisciplinary company renowned for its innovation and expertise in the Environmental & Ecological sectors is seeking a experienced Ecologist to join their in-house Ecological teams. As a Advisor Ecologist, you will collaborate closely with Designers, Landscapers, and the Sustainability Team to provide expert guidance to clients on various projects related to Green Cities, Sustainable Urban Spaces, and Biodiversity/Net Gain activities.

Location: This position will ideally be based in either Cork or Dublin offices on a hybrid basis (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and contribute to Planning Applications.
Provide expertise in areas such as Ecosystems, Habitats, Ornithology, Climate Change, and Land Degradation.
Advise on compliance with Environmental/Ecological Irish and European Legislation, including initiatives such as Carbon 2030.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure projects align with best practices for Ecology-friendly urban development.
Engage in both straightforward projects like Green Roofs/Walls and more complex endeavors such as managing Helicopter activities in urban landscapes.
Participate in Ecological surveys and fieldwork as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience of at least 5 years+ in Environmental Impact Assessments and Planning Applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Ecosystems, Habitats, Ornithology, Climate Change, and Land Degradation.
  • Familiarity with Environmental/Ecological Irish and European Legislation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility to occasionally travel for fieldwork or project meetings.
