About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Advisory Services team at Hargreaves Lansdown (HL). As Advisory Technical Manager, you will lead a team of analysts that support our Financial Advisers in the delivery of their advice to clients, providing in-depth analysis on complex cases, producing quality output that improves Adviser productivity and enhances the client experience. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced technician or Paraplanner to make a difference by supporting our Advisers to provide great advice and good outcomes for our clients in this growing segment of HL.
What you'll be doing
- Managing the Technical Analysis Team including performance management, productivity, absence, recruitment, training, and development.
- Overseeing the production of detailed analysis on behalf of Financial Advisers supporting the complex areas of advice such DB transfers, pension consolidation, detailed cashflow planning and investment portfolio analysis.
- Implementing and mapping processes to ensure the team's output is delivered with accuracy and efficiency, taking ownership for sign off of the analysis, quality assurance and recommendations.
- Providing subject matter expertise on cases that require specialist technical knowledge and detailed analysis, interpreting the impact of changing legislation and regulation on the team's activities.
- Ensuring that processes followed, technology and methodologies employed, deliver the right colleague and client experience, and results within tolerance, highlighting any emerging risks.
- Proactively producing management information and reports
- Establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with our software suppliers e.g., Voyant, Morningstar etc.
- Liaising with the Training Manager to highlight common areas of discussion with Advisers, identifying potential areas of training and development.
About you
- Qualification to Financial Planning Diploma level in conjunction with the CII Pension Transfer Certificate, or G60/AF3 equivalent.
- In depth knowledge and experience of financial planning practices and application including up to date technical knowledge specifically on DB transfers.
- Relevant experience of operating within a financial planning practice.
- The ability to interpret and communicate technical information, at a level appropriate for the recipient.
- Up to date knowledge of advice standards and policies.
- An ability to prioritise own workload and that of the team, plan resource and manage time effectively to ensure timely delivery of analysis within service standards.
- Accomplished in building effective relationships at all levels, skilled at influencing, negotiating, and managing challenging conversations with ease.
- Previous experience of leading a team.
Interview process
This will be a two-stage interview process, including an initial conversation followed by a second stage with a formal interview, including a task and competency-based questions.
Working Schedule
Based in Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This is a permanent, full-time position. For this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern to enable you the option of working from home and coming into the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
