Leading freight forwarder based in Colnbrook are seeking an Air Freight Pricing Specialist to join their team.
The job purpose of Airfreight Pricing Operative is a nationwide covering role. In line with our long term goals of growing the airfreight product exponentially in the future, the successful applicant will work within a team of three, supporting each of the commercial and operational teams in enhancing the sold and provided product offered.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities will include:
- Product reporting including generating and manipulating raw data into presentable formats.
- Procurement and pricing assistance for specialist and technical requests.
- Internal sales support with transitional and new opportunities.
- Assistance in maintaining current house accounts and retained business.
- High level procurement and supplier maintenance.
- General rate maintenance and distribution through internal systems.
- To agree jointly with the Airfreight Product and Operations Manager a retention plan and target account platform for key accounts.
- To develop and maintain personal expertise in selling skills and operational systems
- To represent the Company in a positive and professional manner, ensuring that the corporate DNA and family values are adhered to at all times.
- To monitor all assigned Accounts with the customer service team to ensure low and nil spend customers are immediately identified and relevant follow up action is taken.
- Liaise with all new and regular customers on all queries and issues through regular contact by telephone.
- Constantly evaluate processes and procedures and suggest possible improvements at customer account level.
- Responding to customer enquiries professional and promptly.

- To manage events to ensure customer KPI’s are met.
- Make regular contact with all Accounts by telephone and arranging business reviews where necessary.
- Developing relationships with the Sales team, Customer Service team and the Air Product team to share customer knowledge and provide business support.
- To implement, fully understanding and be conversant with the Standard Operating Procedures for agreed business Accounts.
- To receive, action and deliver on air quotation requests.
- Follow up on all air quotations delivered and manage success rate.
- Provide corrective action in professional manner regarding any customer anomalies.
- Review up and down trending business each month and deliver to the Operations Manager an action plan for down trending accounts.
- Support the Air Product & Sales teams with the route development on agreed trade lanes.
- Commercial awareness all at times.
About you:
The ideal candidate will be educated in Maths and English (oral and written) to GCSE, Standard Grade or equivalent; grade A-C and be able to demonstrate competent computer skills in all areas of Microsoft office, with a specifically high level of proficiency in using Microsoft Excel.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in both a technical and commercial Airfreight capacity along with the ability to work with a high level of self-sufficiency, and pro-active time-management, in order to meet strict deadlines and varying workloads. Knowledge of International Trading terms and international standard for freight carriage, insurance and costs would be desirable.
A creative mindset which can provide commercial and technical benefit to the product would be very much welcomed.
Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
