We are looking for an Alternative Provision (AP) Officer to work in our small and friendly team to support our work in developing our AP approach and service into the best it can possibly be for Children and Young People at risk of permanent exclusion across the Wakefield District.
It's an exciting time to join the team. We are LA leaders in the National Change Programme for SEND and AP, and we are developing our AP systems in line with national priorities around a 3 tier system and an AP Taskforce.
As an AP Officer, you will spend some of your time visiting children, young people, families and school and AP settings to support those who are at risk of exclusion. Your work with children will around oversight, for example gathering their opinions, and using this to enhance our system. You will work with schools and AP settings in quality assurance and transition meetings. You will also be a very welcome and central part of our AP Team, providing support for Panel activities, working with experienced colleagues based at the Chesney Centre, Featherstone. There will be opportunities for working from home.
You will be a resilient individual, and determined to get the best for some of our most vulnerable children and young people. You will have a good understanding of the elements that may contribute to behavioural issues and be an advocate for those who sometimes do not have a voice.
We welcome a conversation with you; if you would like to know more please get in touch.
We look forward to your application.
