FTE and working pattern: 1 FTE, 35hrs per week, Monday - Friday Holiday Entitlement: 33 days annual leave plus 9 buildings closed days (and Christmas Eve when it falls on a weekday) Purpose of Role As Alumni Engagement Officer you will help to spearhead activities and connect our alumni further to the university. Based in Edinburgh, you will lead, manage, and embed a programme of engagement and volunteering activities, working closely with Schools, across our campuses and with Watt Clubs world-wide. Your creativity, strong interpersonal and communications skills will help to create an offering which is highly valued by our alumni community. Partnership working is key moving forward and the ability to develop innovative funding mechanisms as well as organise high quality events and activities are important aspects of this role in order that we can deliver more and achieve greater impact. Our alumni community offers fantastic opportunities to lever in skills, knowledge, networks, and resources to benefit both students and wider university activities. In return, we seek to support our alumni throughout their professional journeys. Essential & Desirable Criteria Essential Educated to degree standard Alumni relations and/or membership management experience Experience in social media, website development and IT including databases Financial/operational management experience in similar roles Experience of working volunteers Track record of building relationships externally Creative thinker – someone who has a track record in initiating and implementing new ideas Results oriented Budgetary management experience Awareness of legislative context e.g., Data Protection, Direct Marketing initiatives etc. Willingness to travel across the UK and worldwide on an infrequent basis Willingness to work outside normal working hours when required Desirable Marketing and communications experience Writing content for print and web-based media Project management experience Building a membership base using social media and/or other mechanisms Broader fundraising experience Knowledge and experience of volunteering management or membership organisations International alumni experience Knowledge of databases particularly Raisers Edge How to Apply Applications can be submitted up to midnight (UK time) on Sunday 18th February 2024.
