Summary:

The role is onsite at our clients premises in central London with core responsibility for two Data Center facilities. This is also a responsibility for overseeing our customers portfolio of locations across Europe. This includes managing the Operational maintenance and monitoring, administrative and coordination of tasks - such as racking/stacking of active components, installing and configuring UPS systems and other infrastructure peripherals in multiple data and communication room locations.

There may also be a requirement to engage on Real Estate driven Office Projects around the UK. When required this role will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in relation to Office Project Relocations/Refurbishments and Data Room/Colo capacity management. The IT Facilities Technician will act as SME for Facilities aspects of these projects with a focus on design works including Data Cabling, capacity planning, rack elevations, marking up floor plans, Power, HVAC and representing our client as the Facilities SME on these projects

Day to day functions:

• Coordinates activities related to any Installations/decommsions throughout the sites.
• Supports and reviews Service Level Agreements (SLA), Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and other metrics to ascertain appropriate performance of all hardware within the branch Data Room and to identify and escalate variances in facilities performance.
• Act as SME on Facilties project work for small office projects and work with Customers PM to deliver the projects on time and in budget.
• Ability to work independantly and autonomously with minimal direction.
• Possess excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to understand complex IT deployments/installations.
• Provides technical support to remediate incidents or technology change ticket orders to support hardware replacement, upgrades and other requests for remediation.
• Completes the restoration of service within specified SLA parameters with business.
• Review and understand customers Standards and work with other teams to ensure compliance with all security and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in capacity analysis and requirements for Data Room White Spaces based on IT equipment specifications and building facilities requirements. Space capacity growth planning.
• Work with vendors and contractors to provide documentation in support of cable and equipment installations - Scope of Works, tenders, RFPs.
• Supports and partners with building facilities and IT management teams on changing Business and Usual (BAU) directives and advanced planning activities that affect the customer IT Facilities

Essential skills and experience:

• Working knowledge of Data Room HVAC, Mechanical and Electrical systems operations.
• Working knowledge of Infrastructure cabling for Data Room and Office Environments in support of LAN based services utilizing structured cabling (horizontal and vertical) solutions.
• Background in a core Technology area such as Servers/Storage/Backups and Networks.
• Fluent in spoken and written English. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively and inefficiently with other team members and the customer through written and verbal means via E-mail and other forms of documentation
• Ability to work under pressure and a fixed deadline.
• Self-motivated and capable of, and will too, work as part of a remote team on multiple operational and project driven activities at any given time.
• Experience working with an incident and change management tool such as ServiceNow.
• Capable of adapting to others style and ways of working to contribute to our customers success.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adopt new ways of working. Identify areas for improvement across the team and deliver training and coaching to others as needed.

Certifications required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years relevant work experience in a Core Technology area. Data Centre/Mission Critical environment a benefit.
• Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Visio and familiar working with DWG files.
• DCIM experience is a plus.
• CDCDP (Certified Data Center Design Professional) or CDCP (Certified Data Center Professional) certification preferred.
• Working knowledge of communication systems, networking, servers and storage devices.
• Working knowledge of computer room air conditioning and UPS power systems mechanical engineering requirements
